eau de toilette

Vulva dysmorphia is a universal feeling a lot of women have felt at some point in their life. Idealized femininity states that a woman must be clean, shaven, and smell like a rose in order to fit society’s standard of beauty. The reality is, vaginas come in all shapes, sizes, smells and colors. With my series I hope to destigmatize half the population’s anatomy, and allow viewers to become familiar with them on an intimate level. Vulvas are often compared to flowers, in this case they actually smell like one.

"eau de toilette", which is part of Art Souterrain and Nuit Blanche at the Warren G. Flowers Gallery in Montreal, is an interactive installation. The viewer is encouraged to smell the pieces, each drawing features it's own unique scent.
